Wishing you a relaxing week away from school!
Be sure to read, read, read!
Thanks to the Party Committee for planning a super fun party before Spring Break!
We played Kahoot, worked on a Spring Webquest, ate a fun snack and played games!
This morning in Math, students had to find all the eggs hidden around the classroom and solve the attached equation or problem.
This morning 6-1 participated in a workshop presented by WISE (Women in Science and Engineering).
Students had the chance to work hands-on, building different types of circuits.
They also had the chance to build a mini electro-magnetic motor!
How cool!
Did you know that March 20th is the International Day of Happiness?
Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.
The theme for 2024 is: Happier Together: Keep calm, Stay wise and Be kind!
6-1 celebrated by sharing things that make them happy
and by creating artwork, surrounded by words that make us happy, inspired by the book The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds.
Here's what we'll be working on this week:
Just before Spring Break,
it's time for another Spirit Week!
le lundi 18 mars: Journée des pyjamas
Let's stay cozy in our jammies today!
le mardi 19 mars: Maillot mardi
Let's wear our favourite jerseys today!
le mercredi 20 mars: Le mercredi on porte le rose
Have you seen the movie Mean Girls? Let's wear pink! (and let's be extra kind to one another)
le jeudi 21 mars: Journée de rimes
On your own, with a partner or with a group - it's rhyme time!
For example-
Individual: Your hat says chef, but your shirt says ref!
Pair: One of you is a cat, the other is a bat.
Group: One person is a pear, one is a bear, one is a chair, and one is square.
le vendredi 22 mars: Journée de cheveux et/ou chapeau rigolo
Wear a super unique hat or style your hair crazily!
Who: Everyone!
What: Celebration of Learning - Open House!
When: Thursday, March 14, 2024 (4:30 pm – 6:30 pm)
Where: Room 209 (and others)
Why: The purpose of this time is to help you understand your child’s learning and their learning environment. Students have the responsibility of taking an active role in explaining and demonstrating their learning in each of their subjects. While in each space, students will share learning samples or ask that you participate in an activity alongside them.
Looking forward to seeing you Thursday!
Here's what we'll be working on this week:
In Français, it's time for another CFOO
(Le Club Fabuleux des Orateurs et Oratrices)!
This is a public speaking "club" that will help students improve their oral French skills through short speeches.
This time around, students can choose any one of the presentation options that they have not already presented. They will prepare their short oral presentation, fulfilling all of the criteria (listed on the pages they have in their binder).
Students should also keep in mind eye contact, volume and expression during their presentation.
